school and games - 20/01/10
schoolstart
This monday my studies started, we didnt have time to do much yet but it seems extremely promising! The lecturer in the introduction course is really funny and I am actually looking forward to go there to hear everything he has to say.
The first day we played some games in order to get to know eachother alittle better, it was actually somewhat fun. There were tons of information aswell, the founder of the program held a speech which was very informative - showed statistics about all kinds of things - and we got to know what the future has in stock for us.
We will all get to learn bits and pieces from three major parts, pedagogics, sociology and psychology, then in our second year we chose which one we want to specialize on. I'm looking forward to it!
The book that we are supposed to have read in the next two months is "I Skuggan av Framtiden" , a book written by Sven-Erik Liedman. It was quite hard to get it actually, because its sold out almost everywhere, luckily I managed to find someone in Västerås on Blocket who sold her used copy of it. It is about the history if peoples ideas or something like that. Didnt read much yet, been so exhausted lately. It is like 600 pages long so it will probably be somewhat difficult for me since I'm not really used to reading alot, but I'll make it work.
driving school
I've also been to the driving school in Hallstahammar together with my mom and sister. We listened to some information etc and fixed so I can drive with mom. So everyone in Sweden better stay inside for the next few weeks :P
It feels good to finally get things going in life, school and drivers license - great! Lets now hope everything will go well, I really belive it will.
On our way home, Antonia and I had a loooong (loong loooong!!) discussion about "nollvisionen" - which basically is a vision to have zero severely injured and deaths in traffic.
I think its obvious that that should be the goal, but Antonia said it's very stupid to strive for a perfect world because people will always be disapointed, and to promise zero deaths is redicilous because people cant promise that it will succeed.
What she meant is that its better to have a realistic goal and always try to improve over the years. I ment that is exactly what it comes down to - if you always try to make things better and better, you will eventually have to try to reach that magic number zero, which is what its all about :) In my head its stupid to have a goal to "only let 400 people die in traffic each year" , the goal should always be to not have any deaths - but you have to let it take its time, and be happy about all the progress you make, even if its slow.
gaming - trine
Antonia and I tried a new game together, Trine, and we LOVE it! We finished it pretty quickly and I think we found alot of the hidden things without having to go back with new abilities :) For everyone who likes alittle bit of jump & run and puzzlegames, I really really recommend it - check out the trailer at their homepage -, its gorgeous! After Antonia and I finished the game we had this, can you beat it? :)
gaming - tibia
I've played quite alot of Tibia lately, since Heroes of Newerth has been so frustrating all the time :P I am having a GREAT time playing Tibia! It usually comes and goes, the fun in Tibia, but now I'm on a high and I'm really enjoying it. A good old friend of mine, Macko, gave me tons of items and gold, which really makes playing way more fun. I am working on the stupid Deamon Oak quest, I want those freaking Demon Legs already! I'm almost done with four tasks out of fifty, so it will take alooong time before I can even start the demon-task and enter the Demon Oak.
I think one reason why I've been having so much fun lately is that I'm doing stuff I never did before - such as hunting hellfire fighters, dark torturers, furys, hellspawn etc. Tomorrow Dennis will be unbanned aswell so then its Demonhell time! :)
I have had some crazy lootluck lately, always looting stuff. The other day I looted 7 Boots of Haste and tons of other stuff. Woaah, lots of fun.
gaming - goo, puzzlequest, ano & tycoon
Antonia has been trying out a few other games lately, for example World of Goo and Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Goo is excellent, but she didnt really like the classic TTD - she prefered Ano & Puzzlequest.
shows and movies
We watched quite alot of stuff lately....
Up in the Air
A movie about a man who travels alot, directed by the guy behind "Juno", it was a nice movie.
My Sister's Keeper
A movie about a young girl who had to donate her organs to her sick sister all the time. One day, she went to a lawyer to fight for the rights to make her own decisions about her body. Very emotional movie, good one.
The Princess and the Frog
A Walt Disney movie, DRAWN and with SONGS! I loved it.
Sherlock Holmes
The new Shrelock Holmes movie, we thought it would be awesome but it was actually pretty damn boring, we never even finished it.
Friends
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat, What are they feeding you? Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat, It's not your fault!
Dollhouse
We saw the latest season of Dollhouse, its really starting to pick up again.
Naruto
We started watching it again!
computer trouble
For some reason I felt like installing Ubuntu again so I plugged in the harddrive my dad gave me for christmas. After I finished the Ubuntu install and booted, Ubuntu showed me an error about the bootsectors in the harddrive. Ofcoure I assumed it was the new harddrive that it was about, but it wasnt. I spent soooo long time, trying to fix this stupid problem. And I was ofcourse confused like hell when my windows wouldnt boot after I formated the drive I thought was broken.
I also had tons of problems with the cables, because I didnt know what was master and slave and whether it was on cable-select or not (the little pictures were unreadable).
Then I reinstalled Ubuntu, made it look REALLY PRETTY! All settings were so amazingly sexy (I removed the damaged drive). Everything looked so pretty, all my shortcuts and wallpapers etc.
Then when I was about to install something, I realized that the CD-drive didnt work and I had alot of problems with my graphic drivers (seems like alot of ppl with my hardware are having problems in linux) -RAAAGE-, I got pissed and just formated everything and cursed Ubuntu and started to install Windows XP.
I was using the very same CD that Antonia used to Install XP on her laptop - but IT WOULDNT WORK! MOOOAAAR RAGE!!!! I was so pissed - Started to install Windows7 (which by the way is really really good looking and seems very great) - but no.. PC froze during install and wouldnt continue.. ARGH!!!
Tried around with all kinds of WinXP cd's and finally it worked. I had WinXP installed! But... CD-drive didnt work... WAAAAAAAAASTE! I could have kept the Linux install. Argh. It was really annoying.
In this process I lost alot of time, files and patiance..
car trouble
Like thats not enough.. We've also had alot of problems with the car, first of all we couldnt start it, and it was burried by snow. It was so cold. When we finally managed to start the car, we realized that the brakes were frozen stuck so we couldnt move. And we found 5 parking tickets on the windshield under all the snow.
My dad came by and helped us out with the brakes, but the battery is pretty dead so whenever its cold outside we cant use the car.
