employment office

Some days ago I was at a meeting at the employment office, it was basically a pep-talk, they said that we shouldnt feel discouraged if we dont get any answers on our applications. The job situation in Sweden is pretty darn bad at the moment, and many companies doesnt even put adds in newspapers anymore because they get flooded with thousands of applications and they dont have time to deal with it. So basically, people only get jobs if they have some contacts nowadays, and If you get asked to go to an interview you must really stand out from the crowd and/or have a really exceptional resume/letter. Well, I've applied (in a serious manner) for what, 3 jobs? Already been asked to come to two interviews! So I went to the first one and they wanted me to start working on monday (tomorrow) so I called the other company and asked them if they were interested in short-time employment, since I want to study after christmas. They were not interested so tomorrow will be my first day working as a...

glorified beggar

The job is about collecting money for charity. I will be walking around with a team and ask people on the street if they would like to transfer a small amount of money each month to charity. The goal is to find four saints per day, and each day we live up to that we get a free ticket to the cinema. So basically, if I manage to "sell" eight a day, Antonia and I can go to the cinema everyday of the week :D Even if I dont manage to find any saints, I will get 105SEK/h (10euro~) for trying. I have to work atleast twice a week, and each spell of work is four hours long.
The interview was alot of fun, there was a young (cute) girl who was inquiring me and her first question was "Why do you want this job?" and I answered "Well.. Because I want the money ofcourse, or shouldnt I be so honest?". She laughed and said honesty is good, then asked "Why do you think you would be good at this?" and I answered "You mean besides my extraordinary charm?". So it was settled. The job was mine, she couldnt stop smiling for the rest of the interview :) I also told her that Im not shy at all, so I can walk up to people and talk to them without hesitation.
This wont really bring in tons of money, since there are very limited shifts, but it still feels really good to have something to do and I am looking forward to start tomorrow. Lets just hope the snow wont come early this year!

frex

Last weekend Frex came to visit us! That was REALLY nice! We ordered pizza and watched Gilmore Girls together :P One thing that I really love about frex is that having him around is very low-maintenance. We just relax and everyone is comfortable with it. That goes to all my friends though :)
He also helped us getting some stuff straight with car-related insurances etc.

fyrk0s party

fyrk0 invited us to his move in / birthday-party and we arrived there a few hours before everyone else :P It was really really nice, we were talking very much and it felt really good to finally have some face to face time to catch up. Antonia was also really enjoying herself and that makes me really happy, because I dont want her to feel lonely or pushed aside or so while I spend time with my friends.
We played cards and ate chips till the Ias, Linn, Snap and his girlfriend arrived. When they did, we played more cards :P After playing for some time Snap was complaining loudly of his cards and since I was sitting next to him he just showed them to me to get some pity. OMG when I saw his cards I just couldnt stop laughing! My eyes were tearing up and I couldnt breathe, thats how much I laughed, that was fun. And yes, he did have really damn bad cards.

vallby friluftsmuseum & fooooooooooore

Antonia and I came up with the brilliant idea to invite my sister and her family and my mom to a trip to the open-air museum in Västerås. Its basically showing how people lived before, their schools, farms and houses etc. They also have tons of animals there so Elias was really enjoying himself :) It was very nice, we brought food and had a picnic together.

When we had walked around there for a while and finished eating, Antonia and I drove to Hallstahammar to pick up fyrk0! Earlier that day we went to Ramnäs to pick up my sister, Angel and Elias... AND THE GOLFBAG! So now we were equipped with golfclubs and heading towards the golf course!

Neither one of us are any good at golf, Antonia never played it before and fyrk0 and I only played it two times or so (a long long time ago). Since we dont have green cards (basically a drivers license but for golf) we had to go to a course that didnt require one. It costed 80SEK per person (and we could play the whole day), and it was definitely worth it! We had tons of fun! Managed to get some really nice drives (that may have damaged certain cars and buildings nearby) and it feels so good when you do! Hopefully its something we will do much more often, probably next year though since its getting abit too cold now.

social services, swedish for imigrants & the migration office

For september and october we've recived money-support by the social services, but its unclear so far if we will get any additional support. Apparently Antonia might not meet the criteria that they require, but they are re-evaluating the case now with additional documents. Antonia has now been at her first "Swedish for Imigrants" meeting so she has now officialy started to study in Sweden, meaning she could finally complete her resident permit application. The first meeting went great, they were positively surprised how well she spoke so she got tossed into the advanced group right of the bat! I am very proud of her, but she is so incredibly wicked at learning languages so Im honestly not surprised ;)

j0k3, the handyman

Our desk has since the first day we assembled it been bothering me, the surface was rough. We decided to deal with it. So we bought varnish in a spraycan and some sandpaper and tried to fix it. After using the whole can we still werent satisfied - So we went to a paint-shop and bought new (better) varnish. Since the one in the spraycan has solvent in it we had to sandpaper the old varnish away before applying the new one. Now, the desk is perfect. Actually Antonia did almost all the work though, so the headline is quite missleading ^^!

boondock saints

Lately we have most of the time watched Gilmore Girls (an incredibly great and wonderfull show!), but one day we felt like wathing a movie for some reason. So Antonia wanted to show me The Boondock Saints. Its apparently a movie that everyone have seen and if you havent seen it, you should. It was rated very high on IMDB and they are often times pretty accurate, so I had quite high expectations and the movie lived up to them. It was a good movie. But was it worth the time? Doubtfull, since we could have watched two episodes of Gilmore Girls instead!!

Here comes some words from Toni again!

Watching ANTM. Re-watching, to be precise. I kinda know who will win each season, but I don't remember all the photo shoots, so thats nice. I haven't heard from SFI yet, they were supposed to write to me soon so that I can start in one week. Since I haven't received anything yet I am sort of worried.
Oh yeah, and I'm hooked on PB&J Sandwiches!
I guess, judging by the randomness of what I'm babbling about, there is not much going on atm. I'm very happy about the way thing are, though. But let's see how I feel tomorrow, because then it is Joakims first day of Work. Luckily I have ANTM, so I don't think I will be too bored. And I promised to go grocery shopping :) Speaking of watching stuff: we have seen the newest episode of House, double episode actually, and it was so incredible! I don't want to spoil anything, I'm just going to tell you that it was a completely different take on House's Character. Different environment - different House - different Goals. I'm curious to see what is going to happen in the rest of the season.

apart from that we have also watched Bamse! A swedish children's show. It was hard to understand everything, but Joakim helped me whenenver i asked him to. And it is really cute. Things like spongebob or all the animated weird stuff that is on for kids in Germany cannot compete with Bamse at all! I think that Bamse is so much more appropriate, also.
Oh aaand: Gilmore Girls! Both me and Jocke are hooked big time. Season 3 right now. We are watching it so fast that it is actually challenging to keep up with the downloads :D I watched it before, but since my memory is very wicked I can re-watch things and almost have the same experience as I had when I watched it the first time. Thats a very good thing for me, because I am always out of things to watch. It always depends on the amount of time between the first and the second time I watch a show/movie, ofc. But all in all my memory can go a looong way for me when it comes to visual media!

- I really want to have a sailing boat, I really really do. Just FYI! I even called on an add on Blocket, someone had a wreck that they had no room for so they wanted to give it away, but someone else already fetched it :P
- Mom is giving us her old TV! Gogo videogames!
- I installed Need for Speed Underground 2 some time ago, to play with fyrk0 and Ias. But it didnt work :(
- We have to change the license plate on the car. It costs alot :(
- We are almost done with the last Harry Potter book! Im already looking forward to get started on the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy! :)
- Ias, fyrk0 and Frex are trying really hard to convince me to start playing World of Warcraft with them, they would even pay for me. Who knows, maybe I will start playing one day. At the moment I dont feel like I have the time, but it would be fun to play something with them. I just wish they could pick another game :P I have to admit that I am alot less Anti-WoW now than before, so they have definitely made some kind of progress in the convincing process.
- We have a waterdamage in our bathroom. Caused by the people living above us, yay!
- The rage. Its incredible how powerfull and overwhelming the rage can be, caused by Heroes of Newerth.
