quick-info
information
My name is Joakim Engfors, and I am 24 years old. I am from Sweden and was born and raised in Västerås. I grew up with videogames and computergames, I was never really into sports, but I tried some different activities and always ended up infront of my computer/videogame. I have always had an interest for gaming and I am addicted to Coca-Cola.
current
I am currently living in Eskilstuna, Sweden with my girlfriend Antonia. We have a beautiful little apartment where we spend most of our days. I am studying human behaviour-science - the goal is to become a school psychiatrist. I have always liked to help people, and its also something Im good at. I am a good listener, so I belive that I will be both successfull and happy in my line of work.
Antonia and I often watch shows together, sometimes a movie. We also play quite alot together, mostly Heroes of Newerth at the moment, a DotA clone by S2 Games.
future
I really would like to travel somewhere, most likely to South Korea and Japan.
In the future I would like to work with helping kids who are having a hard time.
Somewhere between now and when I graduate, I plan on getting my drivers license - because when I have that behind me, graduating and a drivers license, I can finally start a family together with Antonia! If we chose to do so right of the bat or not, we cant say yet, we will perhaps travel around the world first.
my time as a leveldesigner
I have always been interested in creating my own levels for first-person games. The first game i started to build maps for was called Duke Nukem 3D. I didn't have any skills or goals at this time, I just mapped for the fun of it. Later on I saw a friend using Worldcraft to make maps for Quake. I gave it a try, but really didn't understand much so I gave up fairly quickly and moved on to Unreal Tournament. I spent much of my time infront of UnrealED, but since my friends and I played Counter-Strike, I really wanted to learn how to map for Counter-Strike.
A friend and classmate Mobne, was playing around with Worldcraft abit, so he tought me the basics, and together we learned more and more advanced stuff. We helped eachother out and thanks to different mapping-communitys and forums, we gained knowledge about most of the tools Worldcraft had to offer. We made one map together and many indipendantly, we waypointed them and played endless hours. often with bots, it was a lot of fun.
At this time, I was spending plenty of time on the Nuclearbox.com forum. One day Zacker, my friend and owner of thefuture.dk, asked me if I wanted to create maps for a Half-Life mod called Sands-of-War and I accepted. This oppertunity has ment a lot to me as a leveldesigner and person. I've learned a lot thanks to Zacker and the team behind SoW, they've always backed me up and helped me. At the moment, I mapping for Sands-of-War 2 , wich is running on the Source engine by Valve.
games i play
|
Starcraft I like to play Starcraft Broodwar with my friends. I do enjoy watching Pro-gamers play more than playing myself though, especially if Tasteless is commentating. I like playing Terran alot, their themesongs are just amazing. Heroes of Newerth I have those days when I do nothing but play HoN! Its an incredibly fun game, but it can also make me really frustrated and annoyed. I almost never play alone, I prefer playing with some friends from Finland - we always own! Tibia I have spent very much time with Tibia, have played a few different servers and been invloved in wars etc. I have all vocations lvl 100+. I have earned lots of money on Tibia, more than 2000 euro! |

music
I listen to music almost all the time while i map/chat/tibia, I listen to lots of different music, but my favourites are Looptroop, Promoe and Simple Plan. Sometimes I listen to webradios like P3 Street/Star or The Voice.
site purpose
This site was created mostly for learning HTML/PHP/CSS, but also becouse I want to gather my stuff that I have made on one single site. And creating a homepage is really good for killing time.
tools and language
For some reason I got tired of using WYSIWG tools so this site is made entirely in notepad and the images in photoshop/paint. When i started I didnt know any PHP/CSS at all but my good friend Franzy spent alot of time to help me, if he hadnt i wouldnt have any site at all right now.
comming features
I've plans on adding CMS for the blog section.
